How it works

1

Log your hours

Add hours after each shift, volunteer day or class. Or tap Start clock when you begin and Stop when you’re done. A ring shows how close you are to 80.

2

Save your proof

Snap pay stubs, sign-in sheets, timecards and gig app screenshots. For volunteer hours, the app writes the letter and texts your supervisor a link to sign on their phone.

3

Print your packet

One tap makes a PDF with every entry, signed letters and photos, ready to upload to your state’s website or hand to your caseworker.

Why proof matters

When Arkansas added a Medicaid work rule in 2018, more than 18,000 people lost coverage within months. Harvard researchers found that more than 95% of the people the rule applied to were already working enough or should have been exempt. Most coverage was lost to confusing reporting, not to people refusing to work. Read the study summary.

my80hours handles the paperwork side: it keeps a dated record of every hour, the proof behind it and the signatures you need, so nothing gets lost.

🛒 SNAP (food stamps)

Adults 18–64 without a child under 14 at home get 3 months of SNAP in 3 years unless they show 80 hours a month or qualify for an exemption. In effect in every state since mid-2026.

🩺 Medicaid

Adults 19–64 covered through Medicaid expansion must show 80 hours a month, or have at least $580 a month in income, starting by January 1, 2027. Some states start sooner.
